The event space you choose can make or break your event's success. A good venue will create an enjoyable experience for your guests, while a subpar site can ruin all your dedicated planning.
Planning an event can be challenging, and choosing an event space is no different. Here are some things to consider before you book a venue:
How will the food be provided?
It might seem like an obvious question, but it can be complex to answer. Some venues will have preferred caterers or vendors endorsed by the venue and are the first choice for events. And other venues might instead have a list of caterers they will not work with. It's important to look at the list of caterers if there is one.
Finally, some venues might provide their own food. For example, Hanover Country Club offers a range of menu choices prepared on site. The price ranges from $30 to $45 per guest.
Is there a deposit?
Venues need deposits to insure themselves. Deposits guarantee the event space on the day of the event. Venues often require either a certain percentage of the total cost or a fixed amount. For example, the club requires a minimum deposit of $1,000, though it may be more depending on the size and duration of the event.
What is the cancellation policy?
As Forrest Gump says, "life happens." You might need to cancel or reschedule your event. For this reason, you should look at a venue's cancellation policy. You'll want to think about how far in advance cancellations are accepted and what percentage of the payment will be refunded. The Hanover Country Club offers full refunds of the deposit for cancellations made over 12 months in advance. It will return half of the deposit for cancellations made less than 12 months in advance.
How many guests can the venue seat?
Once again, this question may seem self-explanatory. However, you'll want to consider how much space you want for your guests. Make sure you know the floorplan of the space and how much room you will have to move around.
If a venue can accommodate 300 people with no extra space, you might consider inviting 200 people to allow for a less-clustered event.
The Hanover Country Club's spacious dining room and ballroom accommodate up to 225 people, with space for dancing and any other activities you may have for your event.
With these questions in mind, you should be able to find the perfect space for your event. Make sure to check out the Hanover Country Club for your next gathering!
